Sue with Rod and Lyndsay Edwards from the Portsmouth Society

Here we are attending the public consultation on South Parade Pier at the Royal Beach Hotel where we met with MA Architect students from Portsmouth University. Alongside 300 people we put forward our ideas of how we want to see the pier restored for the future. The students presented their ideas, one of which was to develop dementia friendly zones teaming them up with young people in an intergenerational project. Most people appeared to want to revive the traditional entertainment for all ages and combine this with 21st century activities.
There was a real buzz about the room and lots of interactions. The students are going to collate the information they received and hold another event to present their findings. We do love our Pier!
